Celebration of the St Martin’s Day 🎪
St. Martin arrives in November atop a white horse (when snow begins to fall ❄️) This day is also marked by a traditional feast and young wine 🍷 🍗
The most famous legend concerning St Martin was that he had once cut his cloak in half to share with a beggar during a snowstorm, to save the latter from the cold 🙏
🍗 The fried goose became a symbol of St. Martin’s Day because of a legend that when he was trying to avoid being ordained bishop he had hidden in a goose pen, where he was betrayed by the cackling of geese.
🍷🥂 This celebration is also coincided with sampling of the young wine that is called “svatomartinské víno”.
