Exhibition Voyage to Iceland by Hynek Martinec @hynekmartinec in the Sternberg Palace @ngprague
The series of paintings illustrate the artist’s view on a fictional story of an attempt to build a Baroque cathedral in Island and decorate it with paintings. About thirty paintings and drawings are related to many Baroque art pieces from the collection of the National Gallery. Martinec’s art and reinterpretations of the old masterpieces make us to see the original paintings in a new light through a contemporary view.
