Josefov (Jewish quarter) is a town quarter in the center of the city (Prague 1). It was formerly the Jewish ghetto of the town.
Historical sites:
• Klausen synagogue 🕍 Here you may see foundational texts of Judaism (Torah and Talmud), sacral space of Judaism (traditional components of the synagogue interior, synagogue prayer service, etc.)
• Pinkas Synagogue 🕍 Walls of the synagogue were covered with names of about 78 000 Czech and Moravian Jewish victims of Shoah. On the first floor of the synagogue there is an exhibition of pictures drawn by children in the concentration camp in Theresienstadt (Terezín).
• Maisel Synagogue 🕍 Shows an exposition of Jewish history in the Czech lands from the beginning (9th century) till the age of Enlightenmentwhich meant a turning point in Jewish social status. … to be continued.
