MY NEW PROJECT: DISTRICTS OF PRAGUE!
Every week Monday-Wednesday I’ll tell you about different districts of Prague, their history and modern life, people, cafes and restaurants, gardens, galleries and other infrastructure.
⠀
Let me introduce you the Vršovice district today 🎉
⠀
Vršovice district is a part of Prague 10.
Vršovice is located south-east of the city centre, it borders Vinohrady, Nusle, Michle and Strašnice. It has 107 streets and about 38,700 inhabitants.
⠀
Now Vršovice is one of the most prestigious and hipster districts, but before that it was quite dangerous to walk along its streets at night.
⠀
It is one of the districts that used to be a town with a very ancient history. The name Vršovice is first mentioned in 1088 in the founding document of the Vyšehrad Chapter. It is a former village, which later became part of Prague in 1922. ⠀
In the northern part of Vršovice (bordering on Vinohrady) there is a noble area with beautiful historic and Art Nouveau houses.
